Treasurer Mitchell To Lead Association Throughout 2021

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Indiana State Treasurer Kelly Mitchell assumed office as President of the National Association of State Treasurers (NAST), the nation’s leading advocate for responsible state treasury programs and related financial practices and policies. Treasurer Mitchell was elected NAST President at the Association’s 2020 Annual Business Meeting. She succeeds Massachusetts State Treasurer and Receiver General Deborah B. Goldberg, who served as NAST President throughout 2020.

Treasurer Mitchell has been an active member of NAST since 2014, when she was elected as the 55th Treasurer for the State of Indiana. In her role as Indiana State Treasurer, Treasurer Mitchell serves as the Chair of the Indiana Bond Bank, the Statewide E-911 Board, the Indiana Education Savings Authority, the ABLE Authority, and as the Sole Trustee of the State Police Pension Trust, among a number of other positions. Her deep leadership and fiscal management experience provide her with a strong foundation to implement NAST’s top priorities.

“I am honored to have been elected NAST President, and am thrilled to begin my term this year,” said Treasurer Kelly Mitchell. “It is a critical time for state fiscal programs and policies, and I look forward to leading my bipartisan colleagues in our efforts to promote and advocate for legislation and programs that will strengthen economic stability and security for all citizens in every one of our states.”

“Treasurer Mitchell has been a key member of NAST since 2014,” said NAST Executive Director Shaun Snyder. “2021 will be an important year for state treasuries, and we are thrilled to have Treasurer Mitchell lead our advocacy efforts during this critical time.”

Throughout her year-long term, NAST President and State Treasurer Mitchell will lead the association’s efforts to provide advocacy and support for responsible state treasury programs and related financial practices and policies. The full slate of 2021 NAST leadership can be viewed here.
