"When Treasurers speak, federal decision-makers listen."

Dear Colleagues,

Get ready to make a lasting impact as we convene in Washington D.C. for the highly anticipated NAST Legislative Conference this March. This gathering is a pivotal platform for us to collectively champion our shared priorities on Capitol Hill, echoing the wise words of former NAST President, Massachusetts Treasurer Deborah Goldberg, "[w]hen Treasurers speak, federal decision-makers listen."

Advocating for our shared priorities is more than our responsibility; it's a chance to contribute to the betterment of our constituents' lives. As leading figures in public finance nationwide, our legislators and constituents look to us for collective expertise in shaping public policy. Let's ensure that policy decisions consider the long-term impacts on our residents back home when made by individuals in Washington.

With our advocacy efforts ongoing throughout the year, the upcoming gathering in D.C. this March presents a unique opportunity for us to unite and educate legislative leaders with a powerful, unified, and bipartisan voice.

Expect insightful conference sessions and esteemed presenters who will equip us with the knowledge and tools necessary to effectively advocate for our shared positions. From expanding the use of ABLE accounts to safeguarding municipalities' access to tax-exempt bond financing and making higher education more affordable, the conference will cover a diverse range of topics.

The second day of the conference, set on Capitol grounds at the Congressional Visitors’ Center, ensures easier access to your representatives in Congress. It's crucial for each of us to schedule meetings with our Congressional representatives and members of key committees, such as the Senate Finance Committee and the House Ways and Means Committee. Reach out to the dedicated staff at NAST if you need assistance in setting up meetings or identifying key contacts—they are ready to support you.

Please note that early bird registration concludes on February 2, and hotel room rates are available until February 16, so act promptly to secure your reservation. For additional details, please visit the Legislative Conference webpage.

Looking forward to an impactful and successful conference in D.C.

Sincerely,

James A. Diossa
