Conference Schedule
Registration is now open for NAST’s Legislative Conference in Washington, DC at the historic Watergate Hotel. All events will take place at the hotel unless otherwise noted. All conference events are business casual. The agenda includes in-depth panels, discussion groups, and expert keynote speakers. Events are open to all attendees unless otherwise noted. Agenda is subject to modification.
Health and Safety Notice
NAST is considering the health and safety of all conference attendees and staff during the 2023 Legislative Conference. NAST will follow the CDC’s COVID guidelines and DC COVID Guidelines. NAST encourages participants to take the precautions they wish when attending all activities occurring at the conference, including being vaccinated and wearing face masks. Face masks and hand sanitizer will be readily available to all attendees.

Debt issuer experts will discuss advocacy efforts and legislative trends related to state issued debt.
11:30-12:30 PM Working with Congress to Improve Education Savings Options for All American Families
Congressional staff from relevant committees will provide attendees with an update on the status of reauthorization of the Higher Education Act and will discuss potential enhancements to 529 plans that members of Congress may be interested in pushing in the 118th.

ASPN will host an in-person meeting with additional virtual capabilities to be provided. The meeting will include:
1. Remarks and ASPN Updates from ASPN Chair Treasurer Stacy Garrity
2. Legislative Priorities post ABLE Age Adjustment: Following the historic passage of the ABLE Age Adjustment, join with Congressional staff members to engage in a dialogue around possible new legislative priorities to expand and improve ABLE Accounts.
3. ABLE Program Outreach Strategies, Partnerships & Education: Join a discussion with national organizations on communicating ABLE information to their members and connecting with their local chapters, including beginning outreach strategies on the ABLE Age Adjustment Act.

Join the leadership of CSPN for an open forum discussion about the implementation of this new provision of IRC529. What do states and plans need to consider over the next several months in order to be prepared for the January 1, 2024 launch.

Conference programming will end at 11:15 AM. We encourage you to schedule Hill and Administration appointments starting at noon. (Please schedule your meetings ahead of time since each office has their own COVID protocols.)

The Watergate Hotel
Join us for NAST’s Legislative Conference at the historic Watergate Hotel located at 2650 Virginia Ave NW. The hotel is three blocks away from the Foggy Bottom/GWU Metro stop on the blue, orange and silver lines and is a 15 minute cab ride from Washington National Airport. All events will take place at the hotel unless otherwise noted.
Our hotel block is currently full. The hotel still has availability, but at their best available rate.
Attendees can reserve rooms by either calling the group coordinator desk at 202.838.4493 or sending an email and asking for the NAST room block. Rooms are available at these rates until January 24, 2022. For assistance, please contact us.
